Hey guys Brie with Katalyst Wellness
Now, I’m not the doctor here at Katalyst Wellness, that’s Dr.Camhi,
but I will be sharing with you each week’s insights on Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Where does it come from, why is it better?
✅What to look out for?
✅Synthetic versus natural.
How to Slow The Aging Process
Today, I’m going to be going over why someone would need HRT?
Why would a healthy person need hormone treatment?
I’ll give you the full run down, and from there you can determine if what I am saying resonates with you.
But first, I want to back it up to how hormones work in the body because before you can make and educated decision about hormones for yourself, you need to understand how they work.
Conventional medicine has always held the belief that aging is inevitable right?
There’s no magic pill and the progressive deterioration that occurs in our adult years cannot be altered.
You probably have also been lead to believe that the diseases of aging, such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, are all part of the normal “aging process,” right?
Why is it wrong?
We all know that our physical appearance and mental health hits a downward spiral as we age.
Hormone replacement therapy is now giving us the option to help make this process controllable and preventative.
We are entering a new era my friends, where one of the most successful treatments to slow down the aging process and achieve prevention of both the illnesses of aging as well as the symptoms of aging can be accomplished through BHRT.
Research has shown that maintaining our hormones levels in a youthful state (as in, someone my age right now) can prevent the debility and illness that accompany the aging process.
Meaning…. That the sicknesses and diseases that usually attack us in our older years can be fought off, meaning. . . that our quality of life can be improved not only right NOW but down the road.
I don’t know about you but I still want to be super active and travel and do sports in my older years.
Hormones Effect How Fast We Age
So, let’s talk about aging for a second.
What causes it.
The rate at which we age and the changes our body’s take are controlled by two systems. The endocrine and immune systems.
The endocrine system regulates our body’s temperature, reproduction, growth, aging, and immune system.
Communication between these two systems (and the nervous system) makes it possible for us to adapt and survive in our environment.
And who are the messengers? Hormones!!
Hormones take orders from the systems – and they tell our internal organs how to function.
Hormones are molecules that are released into the bloodstream and exert biochemical effects on distant organs and cells.
Hormones can affect every cell in the body by activating a receptor site.
For example, your cell has a doorway with a lock, and hormones have the key code.
When a hormone enters the cell, it causes an internal activation of protein synthesis and activity.
The hormone’s effect is determined by a specific receptor site on the target cell.
Hormones have different actions on different cell types in different tissues.
Hormones are molecules and they are made in endocrine glands which include the adrenal glands, the testes, ovaries, pancreas, thyroid, pituitary gland and pineal gland.
When the organs age – as we age – the levels of hormones diminish.
Also as we age, the specific receptor sites in the cells tend to change and become not as receptive as they once were in our younger years.
So whether you’ve got low hormones or low hormone resistance, the solution to all of this. . . .
Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Let me dig in deeper.
Doesn’t matter at what stage of life you’re in, any decrease in the stimulation of the receptor site decreases what the cell is getting, and if the cell isn’t getting what it needs to function, it can’t:
- Repair as quickly, a common result are wrinkles/age spots,
- A decrease in protein synthesis (can’t build muscle as easily)
- Inhibits the ability of the cell to regenerate and leads to the gradual destruction of the cell.
That being said, if you are healthy and happy, any type of deficiency of hormones will completely throw your entire system off.
New Technology Has Made HRT Safe!
For many years, the only option was synthetic hormones, which are chemically different from those naturally found in the body.
What does that mean? Well, when you look at the molecular structure of a synthetic hormone it doesn’t match the molecular structure of your natural hormone in your body.
This used to be the only way we could get hormones, however at a cost- a whole lot of side effects such as balding, heart attacks, or risks leading to cancer.
Now, it’s possible to produce natural hormones that in every way match the exact hormones you produce in your body. These can be derived from plants such as soy and yams. I’ll go deeper into this in another post, but what you need to understand is bio-identical hormones (the hormones we use here at Katalyst Wellness) are natural and comprised of the same molecular structure that your body recognizes.
As our growing technology in medicine expands, you no longer have to accept the fact that your health, appearance and function must deteriorate.
For years we have been searching for this fountain of youth and here it is
hormone replacement therapy!
HRT – The Fountain of Youth!
Now, this is NOT something that will reverse aging and it will NOT keep us permanently at one age.
But with hormones, we can SLOW THE FAST RATE of decline that occurs after midlife.
There will be no sudden falling off in our physical bodies as well as our mental state.
HRT allows for a slower, gradual transition that gives you youthfulness, energy, and a better quality of life TIMES 10 better compared to without hormones.
Our mission is to simply replenish the hormones that already occur naturally in your body and boost them back up to appropriate medically sounds levels necessary to maintain optimal health and strength.
It’s preventative medicine and it’s the most (in my opinion) important medicine you could be giving your body.
Even if your levels might be considered “normal’ you can still use hormones to improve and feel better. These changes in hormones result in decreased healing and repair of tissues. And help us in maintaining our good health and overall better. . .everything!
